Current performance

We're still processing tickets - 33,417 in 2008 - but people are slowing down as there's been a 63% reduction in people being killed or seriously injured across all our safety camera locations.

To us, the most successful camera site would be one that doesn't generate any tickets, as it would mean that nobody is breaking the law.

The Partnership is about casualty reduction; not making money. It is important that we gain the support and co-operation from you, the public, so that we can achieve our aim of reducing crashes and casualties at safety camera sites.

Public opinion survey

When the Partnership formed in 2002, a public opinion survey, containing seven mandatory questions set by the Department for Transport (DfT), was carried out to determine what the public thought about safety cameras.

To enable comparisons to be made between the original views and those in subsequent years, we carry out an annual public perception survey. Each survey is conducted by an independent market research company and we assess the results and amend our publicity campaign plans accordingly.

A total of 1,150 interviews are carried out, either face-to-face or by telephone, with geographical and urban/rural quotas used to reflect the county's population as a whole.
