Husband and wife fined £800 and given 6 penalty points each
A speeding motorist and her husband have been fined £800 and given 6 penalty points each on their licence for failing to provide the identity of a driver at the time of a speeding offence.

Penalty points and £990 fine as speeding motorist loses court case
A speeding motorist who had already clocked up six points on his licence through speeding tickets was yesterday fined a total of £990 and given an additional three points after contesting a speeding ticket at Dartford Magistrates Court.

'Street lights mean 30' campaign drives home road safety message
Did you know that two-thirds of all crashes in which people are killed or seriously injured happen in built-up areas where the speed limit is 30mph or less? Or that, by driving at 35mph instead of 30mph, you are twice as likely to kill someone?

The Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership's camera vans will be enforcing mobile phone and seat belt offences on a permanent basis, as well as speeding motorists, from 5 October.

Young motorists most supportive of safety cameras
Young people have a more positive attitude to safety cameras than older drivers, according to the latest survey of driver opinions on safety cameras from the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). The results show that 17 to 24 year-olds give the best approval ratings overall while older drivers tend to be the least supportive, with drivers over 45 giving the lowest approval ratings.

Phone and seat belt crackdown catches hundreds
Over 253 car drivers and passengers were detected not wearing seat belts and nearly 50 drivers were caught using a mobile phone in last week's crackdown by Kent Police and the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership.

As part of the latest European TISPOL road safety campaign, the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership and Kent Police are working together to clamp down on motorists caught on camera using a phone while driving or not wearing a seat belt.
